Summary

[edit]
Description

Whin Rigg is the fell on the other side of Wast Water. Note the curiously shaped fields of the farm in the foreground, and what looks like an eccentrically shaped sheepfold on the shoulder of the fell. On closer inspection it was clear that it was not a sheepfold, and there was a standing stone in the centre. An enigma. Shown, but not named on the OS 1:25 000 map.

There was also a precipitous path from the site up to the remote source of a mountain stream. We came down this way and noticed that the path suddenly got better after crossing the stream spring.
