Its people you will see; youwill be one of them. You will live as theylived; you will see as they saw, and do yet see,for behold! the beautiful Bunavere rises beforeyou in all her beauty! Look at her, for,surely, no fairer will you ever behold!

The beautiful Bunavere lies before you AN UNDERGROUND CITY 145 I arose and saw before me a great city, and,as my guide had told me, a fair one; but, gaz-ing as I did from the heights where I seemedto be, the city resembled a miniature toy one,so small did its buildings appear. I gazed,enchanted, and as I looked, lo! the streetsswarmed with people, like flies, going hitherand thither, each bent on his mission, going inand out among the toy houses. The streetswere straight and very wide. They werepaved with something that resembled marble,and the paving shone white and glistened inthe strong hght. Occasionally a vehicle, nolarger than a babys toy cart, whirled alongthrough the streets like a flash of lightning. As I looked, I wished that I might see moreclearly. Hardly had I formed the wish, whenI heard, or felt, rather, my companion sayCloser! And behold! the city was at myvery feet, I soaring aloft in space that I mightsee the place in detail.
