English: Whelley Loop Line This is where the old Whelley Loop line rejoined the West Coast Main Railway Line north of Wigan. This was an avoiding line around Wigan effectively creating a 4 line section (two through the town and 2 around the loop). It was lifted in the mid 1970's. |
