What Fools these mortals be!

Date: 1911 Source Type: Postcard Printer, Publisher, Photographer: The Ullman Manufacturing Company (Series 188, #1875) Postmark: November ?, 1911, Willola, Idaho Collection: Steven R. Shook Remark: Little remains of Willola, Nez Perce County, Idaho. Today [2017], there are just a few homes in the area and several outbuildings. Willola is located along the south bank of the Clearwater River. The small community of Lenore, Idaho, situated upon the north bank of the river, is located one mile east of Willola.

A post office operated in Willola from 1889 to 1912.

The recipient of this postcard was Henry Ward Thornton of Leland, Nez Perce County, Idaho, located 5.5 miles north of Willola. Henry was born February 21, 1891, at Moscow, Latah County, Idaho, the son of Joseph Robert Thornton and Cora Della (Ellis) Thornton. Henry died on April 25, 1975, at Madras, Jefferson County, Oregon; he is buried at Mount Jefferson Memorial Park in Madras.
