Description

4th in Series

And suddenly everything changes. The Least Tern males bring fish to the nesting area but they are only interested in giving fish to females they mate with. The hungry females signal by body position if they are willing or not. If they are willing the male comes up behind them on one side. He starts to shake his head from side to side. If the female wants to mate she shakes her head from side to side as well. This can go on for several minutes!
