Description
English: Visiting London, 1974. Across the pond we'd heard this called "The Tower Big Ben". We found out it's officially the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster, and "Big Ben" is the largest bell inside it. If it looks a bit darker than more recent photos, that may not be due to photo aging - while we were there the exterior of Palace of Westminster was undergoing a cleaning to remove a layer of Victorian & Edwardian coal soot; IIRC they hadn't gotten tot the tower yet
