Description

c/n WA.156 Built in 1963 for the Royal Navy with the British military serial XS482. Served with 700 and 848 Naval Air Squadrons until passing to the Aeroplane & Armament Experimental Establishment (A&AEE) in 1968 and being used for de-icing trials based at RAE Farnborough. In 1985 it became an instructional airframe with the Farnborough Apprentice School, later moving to the Defence Fire Service Central Training Establishment (DFSCTE) at Manston. It joined the museum in 2000 and has since been painted to represent a Wessex HC.2 of 22 Squadron, Royal Air Force, which were based at RAF Manston for Search and Rescue duties between 1976 and 1988.
