| Description |
English: Western entrance to Pitts Wood Inclosure, New Forest. These posts mark the western entrance to Pitts Wood Inclosure. The inclosure is no longer enclosed by a fence (i.e. it is 'thrown open') and some of the pines from this end of the inclosure have been cleared. Just beyond and to the right of the rightmost gatepost is a small cast iron plaque giving a short history of the inclosure up to the time of Deputy Surveyor Gerald Lascelles. It is similar in style to the one in Wilverley Inclosure: 182238. |
