| Description |
English: West Lulworth: Stair Hole against the sun Looking down into Stair Hole, a small formation which is essentially a very young version of Lulworth Cove, just to the east. Weak points, such as a crack, in the Portland Stone rocks which face the sea, have succumbed to the relentless pounding of the waves very tangible on a windy day like today and the cracks have gradually enlarged into an arch. There is a second arch to the right of the most visible one here. The softer rock, nearer us, has begun to erode once the water has been allowed in to meet it. |
