Description
English: 44 young Indonesian athletes won four titles at the 2019 Brunei Darussalam Regata rowing competition at Bandar Seri Begawan, Sunday, August 25, 2018. It is the West Kalimantan All Indonesia Rowing Sport Association (PODSI) representing Indonesia against representatives from Brunei, Sarawak - Malaysia , and China in the race.

Four titles were obtained, namely the third winner of the 25 rowers traditional boat competition, the third winner of the fiberglass youth boat age 30 years and under, the third winner of the 30 paddlers tradition boat and the winner of the 20 rowers youth fiberglass boat with a total prize of more than twenty six million rupiahs .

Also participating was the delegation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam, Dr. Sujatmiko, and the Crown Prince of the Sambas Sultanate, Raden Muhammad Tarhan.

"I think the achievement of winning these four titles is quite good amidst limited preparation and hopefully next year we can regain the Regatta Brunei Darussalam Cup."

Ambassador Sujatmiko further hopes that sporting events like this can strengthen brotherhood between the two countries, particularly after Indonesia has also recently participated in the Asian Junior Wushu Championship in Brunei, August 17-23, 2019.

In the previous year, West Kalimantan PODSI won the Regatta Cup as first place holder in the 5 km marathon rowing competition and won two other titles, namely the first winner of the fiberglass boat race for young people aged 30 years and under and the third champion in the 30-row open boat competition.

Brunei Darussalam Regata Rowing Contest is held every year in commemoration of the birthday of H.M. Sultan of Brunei, with twelve competitions at local and international level.
