Summary

[edit]
Description
English: West Gate Weir, River Skell Built to hold water back for Fountains Mill, this weir must have been rebuilt several times from when the mill was constructed in the 13thC. It looks like 18th or 19th C, and holds back several feet of water. Unfortunately due to the river system being short, it soon dries up, as can be seen here, as there is barely a trickle coming over the top.
