English: Lincoln - Peterborough stopping train south of Werrington Junction. View NW near Walton (LMS) station, towards Grantham on the ECML and about a mile south of Werrington Junction, where this train had joined from Lincoln (dep. 10.27) and come via Boston and Spalding. The locomotive is D16/3 4-4-0 No. 62570, built 7/1908 as GE D56 class No. 1839, becoming LNER No. 8839 (No. 2570 in 1946), rebuilt as D16/2 in 4/28, D16/3 in 9/49, finally withdrawn as BR No. 62570 in 11/59. Note the Royal Mail exchange receiving-apparatus beside the Down line - also seen in TF1701 : Up East Coast Main Line express at Walton, near Peterborough. |
