| Description |
English: Welsh Road Lock near Bascote, Warwickshire This is lock No 18 on the present Grand Union Canal, an amalgamation of at least eight earlier canals in 1929. This wide lock was constructed beside the former narrow lock (now paved over to the right in this image) when the route was upgraded by the Grand Union canal in the early 1930s.
This part of the system was built as the Warwick and Napton Junction Canal and opened in December 1799. |
