Summary
[edit]DescriptionWellsdale Oak Tree.jpg |
English: "IMAGINE THIS...It's 1941, and you are standing in the middle of Wellsdale, Oregon. The U.S. Army has been surveying your.little town for the past few months trying to decide between this location and some others, to build a new training facility. There is a war going on in Europe, but the United States isn't in it. Then comes the attack on Pearl Harbor and the next day, December 8,1941, Army officials walked in the schoolhouse in Wellsdale and told everyone to leave town. This was the chosen site. Almost immediately, the bulldozers began their work and the only thing remaining of Wellsdale, Oregon is the oak tree you see here." -sign near the tree |
