Description

Albert Wells bought this Seddon Pennine new in 1971, painted in the usual white and crimson livery. Unfortunately the signwriter has got the apostrophe in the wrong place. Never mind. The "Continental" badge in the destination box has been pinched from another vehicle in the fleet, 3001UK a grumpy looking AEC with Duple Continental bodywork.which was still in service. It is not clear how Wells justified the word continental in his fleet....perhaps 3001UK inspired it? MVX saw further use in Essex after sale by Wells, having been acquired c 1980 by Southern Star Coaches (Goodger) of Harlow. Since I have found that it operated for Dean Forest (Edwards) Lydbrook, Glos as seen on this site of Alan Watkins. Albert Henry Wells died in 1999 (9th Jan) He was responsible for a large proportion of the coach hire and contracts in the Maldon- Chelmsford- Witham area, and he always had some vehicle of interest in his fleet. In the mid-late 1960s, it included an Albion Aberdonian- Plaxton coach.
