Works copyrighted before 1964 had to have the copyright renewed sometime in the 28th year. If the copyright was not renewed the work is in the public domain. No renewal notice found for the Evening Independent for items published in the year 1930. For instance I can find a renewal notice for the New York Times for this year. If you find a renewal notice under a variation of the name of the publication, or a successor name of the publication, or any other evidence to the contrary, notify me and I will delete this.
