English: Aerial view of Wachenburg, a hilltop castle above the town of Weinheim (Baden-Württemberg), taken from a gyrocopter at an altitude of about 2000 feet (600 m). While the sun on that day in late November had dissipated the fog above about 300 meters in altitude, it remained in the neighboring Rhine plain. The fog highlights the character of Wachenburg as a high-altitude castle. Also visible are the Hirschkopf tower (listed) between Weinheim and Birkenau (top right center, about 2 km as the crow flies from the Wachenburg) and the ventilation shaft (small white spot top right) of the tunnel under the Saukopf-Mountain. |
