Franz Ferdinand, the Austrian successor to the throne, has been a passionate hunter . And he liked hunting in the woods of the mountain Hochkoenig and also at the foot of the mountain Goll.
On the 27th of August 1913 he sealed his early dead. Despite the warnings of his hunters he shot a white chamois. A legend says that the shooter of such a rare animal must die within one year. later.
On 28th of June 1914 Archduke and his wife have been assassinated in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip. And WWI begun.
This stuffed animal is still to be seen in the museum "Haus der Natur" in the city of Salzburg.
