Weed control train leaving Bangor station

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Weed control train leaving Bangor station
For many years, Northern Ireland Railways hired the CIE/IE weed control train to spray the NIR system. For the 1989 season, the train was hauled by NIR 101 class diesel locomotive No. 101 "Eagle", seen pulling out of Bangor station on its return to Belfast. In the tighter financial times of the 21st Century, NIR's weeds are now sprayed by hand - or not at all. 101 was scrapped in 2011.
