Summary

Description

A Poole shot with a difference, a "modern" wedding taken in the '50s and so very different to those earlier images we have become used to. The names are readily available so this may not facilitate the Treasure Hunt that past images have. Nonetheless, it is nice to see such a handsome group on their big day!

With thanks to today's contributors, apart from a lovely day out, we've achieved the trifecta of date, subject and location on this one. An extract from the Munster Express in mid-September 1952 confirms that this was the wedding of John (Jack) Heaslip (son of Nurse Heasilp and the late Mr. D Heaslip of Knocktopher, to Alice (Eilish) Long (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Long of Ballyhale). The best man was Timothy Heaslip and bridesmaid was Alice's sister, Nurse Nellie Long. The photo was almost certainly taken on the steps of the Imperial Hotel, Waterford.

Photographer: A. H. Poole

Collection: Poole Photographic Studio, Waterford

Date: Catalogue range c.1952. Likely c.September 1952.
