Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Wauldby Scrogs and Nut Wood, Wauldby, East Riding of Yorkshire, England.
The definition of "Wauldby Scrogs" is unclear from the maps. One the best O.S. maps it seems to refer to the area in the photograph, but in other maps it could be the western end of the wood, and in another the farmland to the south of the wood. However, as "Scrogs" refers to stunted trees and bushes (see http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/scrogs ) the best guess is that Wouldby Scrogs are the trees and bushes in the photograph.

The wood is approximately 800 metres long and about 300 metres wide at the widest point. Between the advent of spring and the trees putting out their full leaf cover, the floor of the wood is a riot of bluebells, wood anemones, wild garlic, and so forth. The birds (finches) claim their territory with much song. The woods are mixed beech, ash and sycamore, with no invasive foreign species.
The eastern end of the wood is labelled "Constantine Wood" on the maps.

There is tell of a resident deer.
