Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Wath Bridge Wath means "fording place" and the crossing here once served a farm called Yeadon. A wooden bridge was constructed in the 16th century and later a stone packhorse bridge just wide enough for an animal to pass. Apparently carts had to remove one wheel and trail the axle across the parapet in order to cross. The bridge was extended to its present width in 1902 - you can see the join on the underside of the arch.
