Summary
[edit]DescriptionWaterside station - Geograph-3466306-by-The-Carlisle-Kid.jpg |
English: Some staff - Waterside station (1973) With both passenger and freight traffic, Waterside in the 1970s was a busy station with a full complement of drivers, porters, booking clerks - and even a live-in Area Manager. Some of the staff are seen here - from left John Doherty (driver), Johnny Sweeney (shunter) and Inspector William Knox. Johnny Sweeney was a former Great Northern Railway passed-fireman, who transferred to Waterside when Foyle Road closed in 1965. The UTA colours on the 70-class set suggests this photograph was taken in 1973. |
