Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Waterperry Gardens The village of Waterperry lies 7 miles (11 km) east of Oxford on the border with Buckinghamshire. Waterperry House is the former home of the Curson and Henley families, representatives of which lie in the adjacent private grave-yard. The House, which stands in 8 acres of attractive gardens, is a hybrid of architectural styles; originally a 17th century mansion, it was remodelled in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Formal Garden, in which this photograph was taken, is a small, yew enclosed garden. Designed in 1986, the planting reflects various historic periods from Tudor times to the present day. A traditional box knot, clipped topiary and medicinal herb garden complete the picture whose centrepiece is the serene statue (shown here) entitled 'Lamp of Wisdom' by Nathan David.
