Looking downstream from Friars Shott, just where the river bends sharply making it look as if I was actually standign in the water (no chance!!) My wife had an appointment at a clinic in Abban Street, Inverness so that afforded me with a few spare minutes in which to wander up to the Friars Bridge and Friars Shott, to take a whole lot more photographs - much the same views as ever but the lighting is always different, as is the state of tide. Overcast but dry after a day or more of constant drizzle, which had not as yet worked its way down the Great Glen from the hydro generation plants. The tide was out too, so the level of the river at that point was low (upstream of the Bridge) A walk-on part too for an intrepid salmon fisherman, who (suitably attired) waded out into the centre of the river to try his luck. I have brightened soem of the photos due to the overall dullness, but the "spots" in the distance are real - squads of starlings disturbed from their haunts by the sounds of emergency vehicle sirens |
