| Description |
English: Waterford Crystal tour - Mould Room and Jug Making In the Mould Room, mould makers carve the shape of a piece out of beech and pear wood for the blowers to use when blowing and shaping the crystal piece. This particular wood is the only wood able to tolerate the heat of the crystal, with a lifespan of 7-10 days. Jug makers attach a steel rod to the jug's base and place it in a furnace to make sure that the jug is hot enough to be shaped. |
