English: Uninscribed (anepigraphic) roman milestone at Comb Hill, on north of Waterfalls Farm (Birtley, Northumberland). Seen before 1702, about 150 cm high and 30 cm diam. (Sedgley, p. 42). * Henry Maclauchlan, Memoir written during a survey of the Watling Street in the years 1850 and 1851, London, 1859, p. 26 (on line). * John Crawford Hodgson, A history of Northumberland. issued under the direction of the Northumberland county history committee, vol. IV : Hexhamshire. Part 2 : (Hexham, Whitley Chapel, Allendale, and St. John Lee) and The Parish of Chollerton, The Parish of Kirkheaton, The Parish of Thockrington, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 1897, p. 216 (on line). * Jeffrey P.
