| Description |
English: The Water Tower was built in the 1880s to service Ekaterinburg’s railway workshops which appeared in the place of the mechanical factory and former Monetary Yard at the time. The lower part of a hexagon volume of the water tower is laid with granite blocks and its upper tier is wooden — and they both are crowned with a light. The tower has been preserved in its original form and is considered as one of Ekaterinburg’s most famous landmarks.
Русский: Водонапорная башня на Плотинке в Историческом сквере — памятник промышленной архитектуры второй половины XIX в. — один из символов Екатеринбурга. Двухэтажная шестигранная башня была построена в 1880-е годы для нужд мастерских пермской железной дороги. Экспозиция оформлена как интерьер одной из «Метальных лавок» с мелочной торговлей изделий из металла, широко распространенных в нашем крае в этот период. Не случайно екатеринбургские купцы составляли самый многочисленный отряд городских ремесленников. |
