[edit]DescriptionWater tanks ..... but for what^ - geograph.org.uk - 1708395.jpg |
English: Water tanks ..... but for what? It took a while to find out from locals and the internet exactly what these water tanks were for. It would appear that this new development currently of 43 tanks covering 112 acres is for the cultivation of rag worms! The Laugharne Marches it is claimed by the owners is an ideal location for such an operation which needs salt water pumped straight from the sea.
The worms bred here in the tanks are sold as live bait for anglers with most being turned into feed for farmed shrimp and fish. For a distant view of this landscape see this link 1710948 In the far distance one can just see Coygen Quarry run by C&G Concrete where limestone is quarried largely for aggregate. Within the quarry there is a lime kiln working to produce lime for agricultural use. On the hill above the quarry is the village of Llansaduren. |
