| Description |
English: Water main repair works, Stainland Road. Water pouring out of the excavation, and not a workman in sight. A cut pipe and jointing pieces ready to fit. The first thought is that someone hath blundered, but on reflection the next valve for isolating the repair could be some way up the hill, and the water in the main has to be drained off before the work can be done. |
