Description
A photo of Washington School's sixth grade class in about 1888 or 1889. The teacher of the class, J. A. Harma, is standing at the left side of the group. The donor indicates either the girl in the first row standing or sitting may be Emily Pooley. The next seated girl is Mary Willing, then Edith Steig, Marie Rimpler, Matie Goulden, and Eva Murphy follow. The last girl seated in the first row has Howell indicated as her surname. Mabel Wicheds is the third girl in the second row. The last three girls on the right in the second row are also identified. From the left they are: Sadie Morrow (Baldwin), Birdie Ireland Madson, and a girl with the surname of Meyer who later became Mrs. E. Tiedtke. In the third row of girls, four are identified. The second girl's last name is Hollenbach, the next is unidentified, Georgia Lacy Lane, Louise Fulride Lamb, (now Mrs. W. Lockwood Lamb), Bessie Wachter (Mandler), and the last is unidentified. In the last row the boy on the left with a sash crossing his chest is labeled as Curtis, The next boy is Benny Pickett, then Maude Pickett, and Ida Hattersley. The last student is unidentified. The group is posing outside of their school building. Washington School was located in the Dorr-Nebraska Area of Toledo, Ohio.
