Summary
[edit]DescriptionWashing machine power module failed auxiliary PSU.jpg |
English: Failed auxiliary PSU in a washing machine.
Abbreviated circuit description: R71/R72 and R15/R16 are 2W power resistors connected in parallel, which are in turn connected in series to the 230V input of the power supply. These are safety/fuse resistors. K5/K8/K14 switches this PSU on. The normally open contacts of K5 are in parallel to the main push-button "on" switch on the front of the machine; once it is powered up, the controller keeps K5 powered on to keep the machine on. If the machine is powered off, K5 disconnects everything from mains. IS1 is a TNY277GN fully integrated off-line switcher (fully integrated meaning it contains the controller, bootstrap and power MOSFET, "off-line" meaning it runs "off the mains line"). TR1/TR2 is the flyback transformer. The issue with these power supplies is that either IS1 fails, which will generally cause R71 and R15 to fuse, or R71 and R15 die of old age. Since it's a hassle to get these modules out of the machine it's easier to simply replace both the resistors and the switcher. Despite the appearance with the opto-coupler and flyback transformer, this is not an isolated power supply and everything in these washing machines is at line potential. |
