Summary
[edit]DescriptionWarwickslade Cutting, bed material removed - geograph.org.uk - 1463862.jpg |
English: Warwickslade Cutting: bed material removed This long, straight artificial ditch, dug around 1850, was due to be filled in and replaced by a reconstructed meandering stream. Part of the specification required "As much bed material as possible should be recovered from the existing drainage channel bottom, and dispersed along the newly prepared meanders of the original watercourse, to help with the stream recolonisation process". Here, you can see that bed material has been removed from the Cutting. The surface of the Cutting was black but beneath the bed was a mixture of sand and gravel with a bit of clay. For where this material probably went, see 1463890. |
