| Description |
English: This is the first Lands Office in Warwick. To assist the settlement of the Darling Downs, the first headquarters of the Commissioner of Crown Lands was established in 1843 at the foot of the hill opposite the site where the Cambooya railway station was later built. The Commissioner, Christopher Rolleston, made the recommendation for the site of a town to be called Canning Town, however, people living in the area objected to this name and at their suggestion the name was changed by the Government to Warwick. The first land sales were made in 1850. (Description supplied with photogtraph.)
