Description Bolboschoenus maritimus (Syn. Scirpus maritimus), A. a seedling in August; through the base of the left leaf breaks a first runner. B, Longitunidal section through a seed. C. a seedling in October. Buds (g) are seen at the swollen apices of runners. D. terminal part of a runner in (C). E. Transition between the horizontal and vertical shoots in a a somewhat older plant (leaves and roots removed); 5, 6, 7, 8: four successive leaves and corresponding buds (g; g6 is the main bud).
