Description
English: To the left of the end house is the empty plot where 16 Wardle Brook Avenue once stood.

Once the home to Moors murderers Myra Hindley and Ian Brady, they were relocated here from Gorton in 1964 following the slum clearances in the area.

It was here where they murdered Lesley Ann Downey, 10 on Boxing Day 1964 and in October 1965, Edward Evans, 17.

The murders were brought to an end when the murder of Edward Evans was witnessed by David Smith, brother in law to Hindley and up until that point "hero worshiped" Brady, completely unaware of their sickening murders.

Both Hidnley and Brady were jailed for life in May 1966 after being found guilty. Hidnley died on Friday 15th November 2002 and Brady died on Monday 15th May 2017 at Ashworth Hospital, Merseyside where he spent since 1985.
