| Description |
English: War time defences on the Ythan Estuary Built in 1940 these blocks formed part of the beach defences across the mouth of the river Ythan. The concrete blocks were designed to block the movements of German tanks. The larger block, on the left, was the anchor for a steel cable that stretched across the river to prevent the passage of ships and landing craft. |
