Summary

[edit]
Description
English: War Department boundary stone 27. There are War Department numbered boundary marks carved into stones all around the Chester Castle complex, most placed at a much higher level than is usual for the similar O.S. benchmarks. This one, numbered 27, is by the gateway between the castle square (behind the camera) and the Inner Bailey, which is the location of the historic Agricola Tower. High up to the left of this stone is the stone marked 26D - see 675705.
