Deutsch: Der Löwe mit den Schindeln ist dem nassauischen Wappen entnommen. Das gesamte Gebiet der heutigen Verbandsgemeinde Bad Marienberg gehörte bis 1866 zum Herzogtum Nassau.

Der geschachte Schrägbalken entstammt dem Wappen des Zisterzienserordens. Der Zisterzienserabtei Marienstatt unterstand das ehemalige Kirchspiel Kirburg, dem sechs Ortsgemeinden und ein Ortsteil der heutigen Verbandsgemeinde Bad Marienberg angehörten. Der Schrägbalken zeigt hier 18 Schachbrettfelder gemäß den 18 Gemeinden und Ortsteilen der Verbandsgemeinde.
