Description
Nederlands: De gouverneur van de kolonie, Van Aerssen van Sommelsdyck, gaf opdracht tot een nauwkeurige, kadastrale kartering van het bewoonde plantagegebied langs de Suriname en Commewijne. De kaart laat onder meer zien dat het Fort Sommelsdyck voor de bescherming van het plantagegebied niet afdoende was. Linksboven het wapen van de Geoctroyeerde Sociëteit, bestaande uit de drie wapens van de eigenaren van de Sociëteit, van Amsterdam, van de West-Indische Compagnie en van de familie Van Sommelsdijck. Naast dit wapen groeien mangro's met hun steltwortels en loopt een wenkkrab; beide geven een beeld van de normale Surinaamse kust met modderbanken en mangrove bossen.
