Summary
[edit]DescriptionWaltham-on-the-Wolds Railway Station - geograph.org.uk - 1371156.jpg |
English: Waltham-on-the-Wolds Railway Station Waltham-on-the-Wolds Station (built by the Great Northern Railway) never had a regular passenger service; the line from Scalford was principally an iron ore carrier, serving the quarries around Eaton. Special trains, carrying people and horses, were run for the horse races at Croxton Park before the Great War, but otherwise the only traffic at Waltham was in coal and agricultural supplies. The station remained intact until the early 1960s. The goods store, which stood on the main platform, is now a bungalow, seen here from the yard approach road. |
