Dear Miss Longfellow,
Yours was gladly received, and read with much interest.-- Very sorry not to see you at our Commencement Exercises the 27th of June.
X I thank you very much for your kind suggestion and will do the best, I can in that direction. --
The quietness of a country - life in New Hampshire is indeed very restful after close application to study
[p. 2] The folks with whom I am spending vacation are very kind and good to me.
Our hardest work (haying) is finished and since that Aaron Palmer and I have been among the White Mountains. We both enjoyed the trip greatly. We did not walk as we first planed [sic] but took a horse and buggy. this made our trip shorter.
My eyes and head are much better than when I left Bridgewater, Mass. So I feel that I shall go back [p. 3] to Bridgewater this fall well enough to accomplish more this coming year than last.
Annie writes that she has a pleasant place this summer.
I wish you a pleasant trip out west, kind remembrance to Mr. S. Longfellow.
Sincere Friend,
Walter
