English: Walney Island. Only a short stretch of the centre of the 16km long island - marked as Vickerstown on maps but seldom called that by locals - is much inhabited, the northern and southern ends are protected nature reserves. At the southern interface, housing gives way to sheds and garages like these, and allotments. |
