Summary
[edit]DescriptionWall butterfly (Lasiommata megera) - geograph.org.uk - 931798.jpg |
English: Wall butterfly (Lasiommata megera) The wall, or wall brown, is often often seen flitting along, or basking briefly, on stony areas. The larvae feed on grasses.
It has been one of the commoner British butterflies except in the far north, but its numbers have been declining like so many others and this (2008) wet summer will not help. This example is a female since it lacks the male's band of scent scales on the forewing. |
