Description

Die Walhalla ist eine Ruhmeshalle berühmter und ausgezeichneter Persönlichkeiten deutscher Sprache. 'Teutscher Zunge zu seyn, wird erfordert, um Walhallas Genosse zu werden' Originalton des Kronprinzen Ludwig von Bayern. Dieser Ludwig von Bayer ließ als König Ludwig I von Bayern die Ruhmeshalle hoch über der Donau bei Regenstaufen, Kreis Regensburg im Stile eines griechischen Tempels ( Panthenon) erbauen und eröffnete sie 1842 am Jahrestag der Völkerschlacht bei Leibzig. Bei der Eröffnung wurden 160 Personen mit Büsten, bzw. wenn eine authentische Abbildung des Gesichtes fehlte, mit Gedenktafel geehrt. Der Namenvorschlag Walhalla stammt vom Schweizer Geschichtsschreiber Johannes von Müller, der auch bei der Auswahl der Persönlichkeiten beteiligt war.
