[edit]DescriptionWagon encampment on the Oregon Trail (14952388190).jpg |
The Oregon Trail wagon encampment is now an annual Labor Day weekend tradition at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. Re-enactors, including staff and volunteers, work hard to research and recreate the pioneer experience, according to Sarah LeCompte, director of the interpretive center. “Unlike exhibits, films or lectures, a re-enactment utilizes all the senses and stirs the imagination,” LeCompte said. “Plus, it's fun.” The event, which took place Aug. 30, 2014, coincided with the time of season when Oregon Trail pioneers typically passed along the section of route in Baker City, Oregon.
