DescriptionWagon Down - Indiana December 1988.jpg |
December 1988: On the way home from college, my infamous station wagon went off the road — but for once it wasn't (entirely) my fault! Just a mile or two from home, I got hung up on a snowy-icy patch on West Main Street. I think maybe my right wheel had gone off the shoulder or something. It's been a while, an the details are kind of hazy. Anyhow, a "Good Samaritan" stopped to offer his help. Did I want a tow? I was pretty sure I could get back on the road myself, but OK. I accepted his offer. We tied a rope from his truck to my wagon. I watched as he pulled the car and it went right off the road and hit a tree. Obviously I should have been behind the wheel steering, but I guess neither of us was smart enough to figure that out. The "Good Samaritan" gave me a ride home in his truck. Later, Dad and I returned to the scene and somehow extracted the Voodoo Wagon. It was a little scraped up on the passenger side, but not much worse for the wear. |
