SIEGMUND She lifts the helpless maiden on her horse VICTROLA BOOK OF THE OPERA—WAGNERS DIE WALKURE Ride of the Valkyries By Vessellas Italian Band *35369 12-inch $1.25 By La Scala Orchestra *62693 10-inch, .75 In the Ride of the Valkyries Wagnerpictures the wild and warlike nature ofthe warrior maids. It is one of themost tremendous compositions in ex-istence. The wild shouts of the god-desses as they ride their winged steedsthrough the air to the Rock, the warlikecries of Briinnhilde and the neighing ofthe war horses are splendidly portrayed. The Valkyries see Briinnhilde flyingtoward them, evidently in great distress. She alights and asks her sisters to shieldher from the wrath of Wotan, who isriding in pursuit; but they dare nothelp her. Briinnhilde then bids Sieglinde fleealone, telling her that she is destined tobear a son who shall be the hero Siegfried.
