Deutsch: Ernst Waegener (* 1. Juni 1854 in Hannover, † nach 1919): Martin-Luther-Statue aus Marmor (1909), seit 1975 auf dem Dorotheenstädtischen Friedhof in Berlin-Mitte, eine vergrößerte Nachbildung des von Johann Gottfried Schadow entworfenen Bronze-Standbildes (1821) in Wittenberg; Waegeners Kopie stand in der Dorotheenstädtischen Kirche, die 1943 ausgebombt und 1965 abgerissen wurde; auf der (vom Beschauer aus gesehen) rechten Seite der Plinthe steht G. SCHADOW, das aufgeschlagene Buch enthält den Text Biblia Das ist Die gantze Heilige Schrifft; Waegener studierte bei Fritz Schaper und (als Meisterschüler) bei Reinhold Begas; in den Katalogen der Berliner Secession wird er bis 1912 als ordentliches Mitglied genannt; sein Hauptwerk ist das Denkmal des jungen Goethe in Straßburg (1904) |
