Description
English: Two Scots Pines (Pinus sylvestris) at the Plaggenschale juniper grove (Wacholderhain Plaggenschale) near Plaggenschale, district of Merzen, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a heathland named after the common juniper (Juniperus communis) and belongs to the Terra.vita Nature Park (Natur- und Geopark Terra.vita). The site is also famous for its 111 mound graves (tumuli) from the Iron Age and the Bronze Age.
Deutsch: Zwei Waldkiefern (Pinus sylvestris) imbei Plaggenschale, Gemeindeteil von Merzen, Niedersachsen, Deutschland. Das nach dem dort wachsenden Gemeinen Wacholder (Juniperus communis) benannte Areal ist Teil des Natur- und Geoparks Terra.vita (früher Naturpark Nördlicher Teutoburger Wald-Wiehengebirge). Das Areal ist als „Gräberfeld Plaggenschale“ außerdem von großer archäologischer Bedeutung aufgrund seiner 111 Hügelgräber aus der Eisen- und Bronzezeit.
